PETULLA, Albert P., 88, of Bayonne passed away peacefully on Monday July 16th at his residence. Albert was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Staten Island, then moved to Bayonne in 1940. He worked at the Military Ocean Terminal as an equipment specialist for 41 years, retiring in 1995.He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War and was part of the contingent of the 21st Infantry Battalion, which left from Bayonne's 33rd Street train station in September of 1950. Albert was a decorated veteran of the Korean War and fought at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion Post 165 in Bayonne, the Chosin Few NARFE Chapter 1490 and the AARP, and the Golden Ages. Albert was a beloved husband to Fiore "Florence" (nee:Luberti), a loving father to Joseph and his fiancée Anna Mari, a cherished grandfather to Christina Nunziata, Melanie, Danielle, and Julie Petulla. A dear brother to Ann Marie Barrella, also survived by his daughter in law Helen Petulla, his caregiver Anna Klosek and a host of nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased also by his parents Joseph and Concetta, his son Albert J., and his siblings Philip Petulla, Rose DeRosa, Angelo and Anthony Scianni, Mary Castagna, and Carmella Holle.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 19th from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home 851 Kennedy Blvd (at 33rd), Bayonne. A mass will be offered on Friday July 20th at 11:00am at St. Vincent's Church, Bayonne. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Family and friends are welcomed to gather at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00am.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Albert's memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice, envelopes provided at the funeral home.
