Alfred (Al) D'Amico, 93, went to heaven to join his wife Anna who left us 10 days prior. Al immigrated to Bayonne from Sicily in 1950, married Anna in 1953, and a year later began a family.

Al arrived having $10 in his pocket and not knowing a word of English, but quickly set his sights on running his own business. With his loving wife's support, he successfully opened Al D'Amico Sheet Metal Works, a Bayonne institution for over 50 years.

Al always had a smile on his face. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an affectionate grandfather and great-grandfather. Married for 65 years, Anna and Al were and are the loves of their lives. Besides spending time with his family, playing cards, and fishing, Al loved his work and never truly retired, only slowing down in recent years from the six-day work week he maintained for most of his life. He was well known throughout Bayonne as a true craftsman, capable of building or fixing anything. He was a role model for all, demonstrating through his example that hard work, perseverance, and love of family leads to a long and happy life.

Alfred is survived by his four children: Charles D'Amico, Grace D'Amico, Denise Caputi and Alfred D'Amico, and their spouses. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 30th from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home 851 Kennedy Blvd (at 33rd), Bayonne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday August 31st at 10:00am at St. John Paul II Church ( formerly Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) Bayonne. Family and friends are welcomed to the funeral home beginning at 9:00am on Friday prior to mass. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
