Anthony "Tony" Cestari - of Bayonne passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday November 26, 2013, he was 90 years old. Born in Jersey City, Tony was a graduate of Bayonne High School and served with the 83rd Division in World War II receiving five battle stars. He served 365 combat days in five different countries and was honorably discharge in 1945. Tony received the following medals: Normandy, European Theater, Good Conduct and the N.J. Distinguished Service. Tony retired from owning his own jewelry business for over 40 years. He was a member of the Bayonne Elks # 434, honorary member of the Police Department, State of N.J. Honor Legion and was chosen citizen of the month. He worked for the March of Dimes and United Cerebral Palsy of Hudson County and was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1612, Sicilian Citizens Club and Bayonne Writers Group. Tony was on the board for P.A.L and 9/11 Committee and also worked for many years in the Quality of Life Department, as code inspector for the City of Bayonne. Tony was beloved husband to the late Lucille (nee: Horne) and father of the late Carmela Molnar and is survived by his daughter Donna, granddaughters Dawn Caponigro, Renee Haines and Dr. Robin Golson and he was great grandfather to Christopher & Jessica Caponigro and Devin Golson. A visitation will be held on Sunday December 1st from 2-6 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday December 2nd beginning at 8:30 AM with a funeral mass commencing at 9:30 AM at Assumption Church, 91 W. 23rd St. in Bayonne with entombment with military honors to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Tony's memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
