Antonio Ruibal

November 20, 1943 – February 23, 2024
We are sad to announce the passing of Mr. Antonio Ruibal, 80, after a long battle with respiratory disease. Native of Galicia, Spain and resident of Bayonne, NJ for over 50 years, Antonio came to Bayonne in 1968 and worked as a pipe fitter for a shipyard in Staten Island for the whole of his professional life in the U.S. He was well regarded in his work and appointed union shop steward for several years.
Antonio was a member of Bayonne's Spanish-American Club and played an important part in the purchase of the building where it is presently located on Broadway. He was a well respected member and served as the Club's treasurer for many years. He enjoyed playing cards there with his fellow members.
Antonio and his wife Saludina bought a house on Andrew Street which they themselves, with the help of his brother Pepe, renovated completely. He was skillful in carpentry, plumbing and electric. He enjoyed woodworking and making his own furniture by hand right in his garage. Antonio and Saludina later bought a second home in Brick, NJ and would spend time between the two residencies. They also spent several months a year in their home in Galicia. Antonio spent the last few years in Brick, New Jersey where he passed away on Friday February 23, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Saludina; sons Antonio, Jr. and Joseph; grandchildren Nadine, Anthony, Jasmin and Cassidy; daughter-in-laws Dora and Laura; brothers and sisters-in-law Fina, Amparo, Constantina, Melita, Manolo, and Lola; his nephew Pepe Casais and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters, Ramon, Eleuterio, Maria Antonia, Jose, Manuel and Maria.
