Birdalee Patricia McCay-Frey, 85, entered into eternal life on December 28, 2025.  A lifelong resident of Bayonne, Lee was predeceased by her husband, John Frey Sr., her parents, Charles and Mary McCay, her aunt, Helen Paysak, and her sister, Roslyn Barker.  She is survived by her brother William and several nieces.

Lee worked as a toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority until she suffered an on the job injury. She then worked for the Bayonne Housing Authority for many years. After retiring, she became a school bus driver where she took great pride in driving her students safely to and from school.

Lee was a member of the St. John's Byzantine Church in Bayonne.  She was a talented seamstress, and between her and her mother they could fix anything.  Lee was an avid reader and loved listening to Kenny Rogers and Pat Benatar.  She was a dedicated friend and devoted dog-mom to her three poodles, DJ, Becky and Molly.

A private service will be held for Birdalee and she will be interred at Holy Name Cemetery on Friday January 30th at 11:30AM with her late husband in her mother Mary's grave.
