Obituary

Carmella "Mel" Hyman (nee: Romano) - of Bayonne, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday January 9, 2014, she was 76 years old. Born in Jersey City, Mel was employed for many years at Maidenform Inc. in Bayonne and was a past Den Mother to her son's Assumption Boy Scout Troop. Mel was a former president of the S.A. Roberson P.T.A., a current member of Maidenform Retirees Group, member and past President of The Assumption Church St. Anne's Society and an avid fan & cheerleader for The Bayonne Mermaid, Starfish, BHS and Montclair State swimming teams. Mel enjoyed going to Atlantic City, making pierogis at The Ukrainian Church on Thursdays and movies with dear friends on Fridays, but most of all Mel enjoyed the moments spent with her family. She was the devoted wife the late Raymond E. Hyman Sr. and the loving mother to Raymond E. Jr. and his wife Laura. Mel was also the beloved grandmother to Kristin, Kayla (fiancé Milan Rodak), Courtney and Zachary (girlfriend Amanda Novielli) Hyman and cherished aunt to Rose Mary Fasciani, Joanne & Billy Rooney, Mary & Larry Lee, Karen & Gary Powell, Carmen & Peggy Romano, Jamee Romano & Carlo Camarello and Shana Romano. Mel was pre-deceased by her parents Salvatore and Josephine (nee: Costanza), sister Margie Edwards and her late husband George, sister in law Vivian Romano and brother in law Jim Mannion and she is survived by her brother Carmen Romano and sister Marie Mannion as well as a host of grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday January 12th from 2-4 PM and again from 7-9 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday January 13th beginning at 8:30 AM with a funeral mass commencing at 9:30 AM at Assumption Church, 91 W. 23rd St. in Bayonne with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mel's memory to The Assumption Church in Bayonne.
