Obituary

Denis Reilly - passed away peacefully at his home in Bayonne NJ on Monday May 11 th 2020, he was 68.  Born in Jersey City he was pre-deceased by his parents Charles J. and Mary F. (nee: McLaughlin) Reilly and his sisters Bonnie Scala of Brick NJ and Elizabeth Reilly of Bayonne, NJ.  He is survived by his other siblings; Rev. James J. Reilly of St. John Vianney residence in Rutherford NJ, Catherine Reilly of St. Louis MO and Charles Reilly and partner Scott of Denver CO.  Denis was the loving uncle to Charles Ribaudo & wife Christine of Morris Plains NJ and Bonnie Ribaudo of Brick NJ and Emerald  Lindskog of Cambel CA.  Denis was elected class president while at St. Peter's Prep as well as at Jersey City State University. He studied theatre in college and participated in many productions in both NY & NJ.  Some of his signature roles were as Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz", Sherlock Holmes in "The Crucifer of Blood" & Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol".  Denis loved to travel and visited over 30 of the 50 United States as well as many countries in Europe where he visited various shrines.  He even learned to play the spoons in Ireland at the family's ancestral farm.  Denis entertained his many friends and acquaintances in Bayonne were people knew him as "The Spoon Man", in part because of his 1978 appearance on "The Gong Show" where he played his spoons. Denis worked as a bar and restaurant manager in both Colorado and in Jersey City at Casino in the Park and was an avid parishioner of St. John Paul II Parish in Bayonne and was a Third Degree Member of the local Knights of Columbus.  He will be sorely missed by his loving family and his many friends.  He will be missed for his outgoing, generous and loving spirit as he is now welcomed into the merciful and loving hands of his Lord.  Funeral arrangements provided by Migliaccio Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bayonne are private for family members due to the current State Pandemic restrictions, as is the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington NJ, which will be held on Tuesday May 19 th .  Condolences may also be passed along to the family through Denis' obituary page at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com .
