SHANEEN, George Allen, 93, lifelong resident of Bayonne passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 10th. George worked as a General Manager, at the Rheem Manufacturing Company in Linden for many years before retiring. After retirement he worked as a consultant for Bayonne Barrel and Drum Company. George was a bonafide World War II hero, having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He was wounded in the war and discharged himself out of the hospital to rejoin his company of men. George received the Purple Heart and many citations for bravery. After the war in Europe he voluntarily went to serve in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of O.L of the Assumption Church, and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1612 for over fifty years. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, bowling and many other sports. He was helpful to everyone. George was the Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee:Militello) Shaneen. George was the loving father of Karen Ann Shaneen, and the dear brother of Philip Shaneen. He was also predeceased by his parents Anthony and Libby (nee:Kurry) Shaneen. Visitation will be Tuesday February 14th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home, Bayonne. A mass will be offered on Wednesday February 15th at 9:30am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bayonne. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George's memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Food Pantry. Envelopes provided at the funeral home.
