Gerardo (Jerry) Mongiello - died peacefully at Bayonne Medical Center on September 17, 2011, at the age of 84. Loving Husband of Louise "Jean" (nee: Caputo), beloved father of Joanne Carine and her husband Frank, cherished grandfather "Poppy" to Jenna and Jerilyn and survived by countless brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Gerardo was predeceased by his parents Guiseppina and Francesco, sister Lydia and brothers Bart, Pasquale, Mario and Dante. Born on November 14, 1926, in Bagnoli, Irpino, Italy he worked for The Bayonne Board of Education for over 25 years, and was an active coach for The Bayonne Youth Soccer Association. He also played professional soccer in Italy leading his team to three pro leagues titles. In 1956, he married his wife Louise and moved to the United States to reside in Bayonne. He was always the happiest when he was with his two granddaughters.
