Girolamo Barberi - of 752 Avenue E in Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Friday October 14, 2011, he was 96 years old. Born in Catona, Italy on March 21, 1915, he was a Veteran of The Italian Army and worked as a gunsmith for Abercrombie & Fitch in NY. He was the loving husband of the late Lucrezia (nee: Neri) and is survived by their daughters Jean Spagnolo and her husband Vito and Frances Sclafani and her husband Frank, his grandchildren Susan, Carmen, Jeannie, Jackie and Diane and great grandchildren Christian and Aidan as well as many nieces and nephews both here and abroad. Girolamo was pre deceased by his parents Antonino and Francesca, his sisters Domenica, Maria and Angela and his brother Micu. A funeral mass will be held today Monday, October 17 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In Girolamo's memory the family asks that donations be made to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
