Obituary

Harold W. Reid died on May 29, 2019 at the age of 92. Harold was born on May 6, 1927, in Jersey City, NJ, to Gladys Reid (nee Anderson) and Alfred Reid. At the age of 17, Harold enlistedin the Navy and proudly served in World War II on the hospital ship USS Samaritan until 1946.

In 1975, Harold married Jean Militello. They shared their life together in Bayonne, NJ and Alexandria, VA.

Harold worked with both the Navy and the Army in Bayonne and completed his career as an auctioneer with the General Services Administration in New York in 1986. After retirement, Harold served as President of the Baileys Crossroads Lion's Club in Virginia and Secretary of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1490. He was also Secretary of the  Golden Ages and a member of numerous civic and social organizations, including Young at Heart.

Harold enjoyed traveling the world (especially cruising) with his wife and spending time with his honorary granddaughters Danielle and Natalie Panariello. When not traveling, Harold loved golfing and watching the Yankees. Harold was always a true gentleman, with fantastic recall and a sharp wit and even temper. Harold had a loving and generous heart and embraced family and friends with open arms.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert, his in-laws William and Josephine Militello, and brother-in-law Vincent Militello. He is survived by his wife Jeannie, his sister-in-law Paula Daniels of Ohio, and his nephews and nieces Vincent (Karla), Michael (Lori), Patrick (Heather), Susanne, and their children. He is loved by many other family members and friends and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 1 st from 2-6PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33 rd St.) in Bayonne. A prayer service and military honors will take place towards the end of visitation.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Harold's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital with envelopes provided at the funeral home or with a link found on Harold's obituary page at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com.
