IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Kevin
Smith
October 6, 1957 – March 16, 2022
On Tuesday, March 16, 2022, Jack Kevin Smith, age 64, was called home to Our Heavenly Lord. A lifelong Bayonne, NJ resident, Jack was better known by those who knew and loved him as "Kevin", and also endearingly as "Red", a moniker of which he was attributed due to the fiery locks that framed his handsome face. Kevin was born on October 6, 1957 to the late Marguerite L. Smith ( nee Lo Cascio) and the late Jack A. Smith (and stepmother Geraldine Smith-Levers nee Lair), and was the eldest of his mother's nine children, along with the 3 siblings from his father's second marriage.
Kevin served his country honorably in The United States Navy from 1974 through 1977, during which time he was stationed aboard the nuclear submarine USS Will Rogers, whose port was located in New London, CT. Upon completion of his tour of duty, Kevin began his career at the Motby Naval Base Cold Storage, and upon its closure, he then went on to obtain licensure from Rets Electrical School. Thereafter, and up until his relatively recent retirement, Kevin spent many, many years working as a high voltage electrician with NJ Transit. Kevin loved fishing and camping, but most of all, his passion was music. Kevin was a lifelong Grateful Dead fan, and attended many of their shows, as well as hundreds of concerts from scores of artists through the years. Kevin was incredibly loving, loyal and had an infectious smile and an uncanny sense of humor.
One of Kevin's most precious legacies are his four beautiful children, which include his eldest daughter, Jacqueline Ann Smith, whom he shares with his first wife, the late Anna Marie Kachmar, and daughters Rebecca Natalie Smith, Madeline Alicia Smith, and son Julian Alexander Smith, whom he shares with his loving wife of 35 years, Linda Resnick-Smith, and with whom he has spent the last 37 years of his life. He is also survived by his five brothers Frank R. Smith, Francis R. Bossert, Arthur S. Bossert (and his wife Elke), Paul Smith, and Richard Smith, and his six sisters Kathy A. Toczynski, Loretta McHugh (and her husband Kevin), Marguerite L. Murphy, Mabel M. Kosakowski, Donna L. Leszewski, and Robin DeVeau. Kevin is also survived and predeceased by countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
We do not say goodbye to our most beloved Kevin, we say "Until we meet again"
"Standing on the moon with nothing left to do, Lovely view of Heaven, but I'd rather be with you"
May God keep our most precious Kevin in his arms, and may he rest in Eternal Peace and Life Everlasting
