Obituary

James Patrick "Jim" Hennessey - 89, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 21st 2015. Growing up in Bayonne, Jim attended all local schools and worked as a Bayonne Post Office Letter Carrier for over 35 years. Jim proudly served his country in the US Army in Europe during WWII. He was awarded The Purple Heart, The Combat Infantry Badge, The Presidential Unit Citation, A Bronze Star, 2 E.T.U. Campaign Battle Stars and The French Legionairre Medal of Honor. Jim was a member of The Veterans of The Battle of the Bulge, The Golden Acorn 87th Infantry Division and The Military Order of The Purple Hearts. Jim played in The Bayonne Brotherhood Softball League and was an avid Notre Dame Football Fan, "Go Irish!". Jim was the devoted husband to Mary "Dolly" (nee: Tagliareni) Hennessey and the loving father to Glenn Hennessey and his wife Debbie and to James "Jimmy" Hennessey Jr. as well as being cherished grandfather to Mickey and Patrick Hennessey . Jim was pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Margaret (nee: O'Neill) Hennessey as well as his siblings Thomas, Harold & Edwin Hennessey, Dorothy Mitchell, Vera Dagelewicz, Ruth Bessinger, Peggy Cowan & Patsy Olcheski. Surviving Jim is his sister Dolores Schera and a host of loving, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. May He Rest in Peace. A visitation will be held for Jim on Saturday April 25th from 3-7 pm at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday April 27th commencing at 11:30 am at St. Andrew's Church, 125 Broadway (at 4th St.) in Bayonne, with family and friends welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 am. Interment with full military honors will follow at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ. Donations may also be made in Jim's memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, envelopes will be available at the funeral home or a link can be found and condolences may also be passed along to the family in the obituary section at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com.
