Joan Benford (nee: DeRise ) - of Bayonne, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 5th 2016 -  she had recently turned 90 years young.  Born in Jersey City, Joan, also known by her birth name Johanna, and fondly called "Miss Joan" as well, was a dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She derived all of her joy by taking care of her family and her home.  She was the devoted wife to the late Charles Benford and loving mother to Joan Pelligrino (Anthony), Charles Benford (Sylvia), Ellen Rosig (Mario), Joe Benford (Rose), Joyce Dobronsky (Richard) and the late John Benford.  She was beloved grandmother to Joseph (Lisa) & Michael (Amy) Pellegrino, Holly Bonner (Joe), Molly Borst (Kurt), Maggy Burns (Greg), Hannah & Matthew Dobronsky, Jordan Benford and to the late Charles Hugh Benford.  Joan was cherished great-grandmother to Nicholas, Adriana, Alexandra, Isabella, Cecilia, Nuala, Aoife, Logan & Conrad. There will be a prayer service held on Wednesday November 9th  at 10:15AM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne with all welcome to gather there starting at 10AM .  Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington NJ.  In lieu of flowers, please donate in Joan's memory to The Alzheimer's Association with envelopes provided by the funeral home or with a link found at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com .
