John J. Baccarella, 100 years young, John was born on June 18, 1923 in Bayonne, NJ. and died peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
John, was a WWII Veteran, where he served in the US Army, 7th Armored Division as a Medical Technician. Upon being discharged from the service, John studied music at the NJ Musical College and Fine Arts Academy under the G.I. Bill. As a proud Catholic Veteran, John joined Assumption Catholic War Veterans Post 1612 where he held various offices, including Post Commander.
Music was John's passion, he was a vocalist with the Duke Stabile Orchestra during the big band era, and was a member of Joe Anthony Rythmaires and the Barber Shop Quartet.
John was employed at Western Electric as a wireman for 33 years, receiving countless safety awards. After long hours at Western Electric, John often produced and performed shows for his fellow Veterans. John was a well-known and dedicated community servant. He was a permanent presence at public events in the City of Bayonne and particularly known for his singing of our National Anthem.
John found great joy serving his church and his community, he was a founding member of the Concerned Citizens of Bayonne (CCB) serving two terms as President. John worked tirelessly on behalf of the Bayonne community. His service to others throughout his life earned him numerous awards and citations from community leaders across the spectrum. John's life was a true reflection of putting service to others above himself. Extremely proud of his Italian American heritage, John was a charter member of the Order of the Sons of Italy, Lodge 2560.
John is predeceased by the love of his life Josephine (nee:Fargano), his parents Anna (nee:Bologna) and Garsparo, his sisters Mary and Sadie and brothers Jack and Sal Mione.
John is survived by his sister Jean Perrucci, his brother-in-law Joe Fargano, his loving daughters Ann Marie, husband James Pelliccio, Jacqueline, and husband Dr. David Fagan. John is the cherished grandfather to Danielle and Dean Pelliccio and Jack and Meredith Fagan. In addition, nieces, nephews, and countless friends that he considered family survive John.
John was loved by many and will be forever remembered for his kind heart, beautiful smile, and deep faith in God and life.
Visitation will be held at Migliaccio Funeral Home of Thursday, July 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, July 21st at 11:00am at St. Andrew's Church, Bayonne. Internment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, with a link on our website, under Memorial Donations, and envelopes will also be provided at the funeral home.
