BYERS, John A., 76, of Bayonne passed away peacefully on Friday August 26th at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. John served his country proudly in the Navy Reserves. He was a beloved husband to Patricia "Pat" (née:Saliski), a loving father to Jason and his wife Daniela, a dear father in law to Lorrie, a cherished grandfather to Jonathan, Nicholas and Sabrina. John is also survived by his brother Joseph Byers and his sister Cecilia Curtis and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son Johnny, his parents Joseph and Cecilia (née:Lubeck) Byers and his sister Loretta DeChiaro. John had a long career as a crane operator throughout New Jersey and New York and worked at numerous ports and on the World Trade Center site. There wasn't a person who met John that didn't like him. His love for fishing and being out on his boat whenever he could brought him much joy. He also loved to cook, especially for his friends and family on St. Patrick's Day. He would make his Irish soda bread and cook big pots of corn beef for everyone. He would play his guitar, sing his Irish songs and loved to decorate the house for all the holidays. He was one of a kind, there will never be another one like him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 7th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd, Bayonne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday September 8th at 11:00am at St. Vincent's Church, Bayonne with family and friends welcomed to the funeral home beginning at 10:00am prior to mass. Entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington to immediately follow.
