Sofia, Joseph - 68, of Bayonne, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday September 18, 2013. Born in Jersey City and formerly of Cranford, Joseph was the beloved friend and former spouse of Jill (nee: Dinnocenzo) and the loving father to Laura Polito and her husband Thomas and to Tricia Sofia. Joseph is survived by his twin brother John and wife Lorraine and his sisters Maryann Centrello and Lucille Haubner and husband John. He was an avid golfer who graduated from St. Aloysius HS and received his BA in Accounting from St. Peter's College before opening and operating Joseph Sofia Jewlers in Bayonne for many years. Joseph always had a generous spirit and constantly helped those in need, as evidenced by his volunteer work at The Hudson County Animal League. A visitation will be held on Sunday September 22nd from 3-7 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home in Bayonne. A funeral mass will be given on Monday September 23rd at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 691 West Side Ave. in Jersey City with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joseph's memory to The Hudson County Animal League.
