BERNARD, Josephine "Babe" (nee:La Rocca) 87, of Bayonne passed away peacefully on Saturday October 4th at the Bayonne Medical Center. Babe worked in various positions most of her life and her most recent clerical position was for the M.O.T.B.Y., for 10 years before retiring. She was a beloved wife to the late Arthur J. Bernard Sr., and a loving mother to Arthur (Artie) J. Bernard Jr., and his late wife Maryann (nee:Ventura). A dear sister to John La Rocca and his wife Marjorie, a dear sister in law to Elaine Krause. Babe is also survived by her step grandson Christopher Ventura, her nieces and nephews Jeff and Keith La Rocca, Cher and Brooke Knight, Denise and Jack Petonak, and John Bell. Her great nieces and nephews Tyler and Emmeree La Rocca, Jessica and Kyle Somogyi and Beatrix Knight, and great-great nephews Oliver and Giovanni Louis La Rocca. Babe was also predeceased by her parents Louis and Lillian (nee:Butticarlo) La Rocca and her brothers and sister in law Harold Krause, and Bill and Barbara Bell.

Babe was a past president of the St. Ann Society at Assumption Church, a past president of the Rosary Altar Society at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, she also volunteered on the Soup Kitchen committee and was a member of the Bayonne-Bridgeman Drum & Bugle Corp.

Knowing Babe's sense of humor she requested that no one wear black clothing at her services and liked Fall style flowers from Sacalis Florist for those that would like to send flowers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 9th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd, Bayonne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday October 10th at 11:00am at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, Bayonne. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Family and friends are welcomed to the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00am, prior to mass.
