January 19, 1971 – November 21, 2025

Karen L. Jessen, 54, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025 surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Karen lived her life with warmth, humor and an open heart. From the time she was a little girl she had a special love for animals – bringing home every stray she could find. That love stayed with her throughout her life. Her beloved dog Charlie, was her constant companion and faithful friend and he will miss her terribly.

She found joy in simple, beautiful things: music that moved her, long days spent outdoors hiking, camping beneath the stars, and time spent by the ocean, especially in her beloved Puerto Rico. Karen had a radiant smile and a kindness that made everyone around her feel loved and accepted.

Throughout her two year illness, she was lovingly and devotedly cared for by her partner, Bobby Field, whose steadfast love and tenderness brought her great comfort and peace.

Karen leaves behind her loving mother, Camille Jessen and her father, the late Charles Jessen.  She also leaves behind her brother Karl Jessen and his wife Lona, her sister Lauren Maldonado and her husband Forte. She was a cherished Aunt to Matthew, Mark, Talia and Rachel and she warmly welcomed Jimena and Alisa into the family.   She was also loved very much by her Aunt Beth, Aunt Janet and Aunt Christine and her Uncle Chris.  She leaves behind many special cousins and dear friends, with particular thanks to her cousin Carroll, whose support and love meant so much.

Karen will be remembered for her generosity, her laughter, her love of life, and the light she brought into every room. She had a special spark that will not be forgotten. Though her time with us was far too short, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of Life will be held for Karen on Sunday November 30th from 2-6PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne.
