March 26, 1944 – October 29, 2017
Kenneth Joseph Odenwalder – a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29 th 2017. He was 73. Kenneth was a proud US Navy Veteran serving as a Hospital Corpsman for 4 years during The Vietnam War. He was a member of The US Chess Federation, The US Judo Association, and honored to be a Certified High School Official in five sports: football, basketball, swimming, softball, and baseball. Affectionately known as Mr. O, he was a Jersey City High School Teacher for 36 years, six of which were spent as the History and Science Dept. Coordinator at Ferris High School. Kenneth was married to the love of his life Barbara (nee: Beck) and loving father to their children: Kevin C. Odenwalder, Denise Gurbisz (Edward), Keith Odenwalder, and Karl Odenwalder, as well as being loving father to Lauren Duckworth (Alex) and Kevin E. Odenwalder (Rosa) from a previous marriage; and fun-loving grandfather to Kyle, Eddie, Erika, Vivian, Asha, and Jeremy. Surviving Kenneth are his mother Helen (nee: Orosz), sisters Diane and Linda, and a host of other loving family members and dear friends. Cremation was private, however, a memorial wake with military honors will be celebrated on Saturday November 4 th from 2-6 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33 rd St.) in Bayonne.
