Laurie McMurray ("Myrtle") - went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2013. Born and bred in Bayonne to parents Ellen (nee: Glover) McMurray and the late Curvie McMurray Sr.. She was a graduate of Bayonne H.S. and attended Monmouth University & Centenary College. Laurie was vibrant, energetic and determined, excelling in numerous career fields such as acting, martial arts, NBA security management, law enforcement & AT&T. She served in the Coast Guard and was a Bayonne Bridgeman. Laurie leaves to mourn; her mother Ellen, siblings Curvie, Clayton and Lisa McMurray, her soul mate Rupert Strawbridge and family, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of devoted friends and dancing partner Eric Underwood. Laurie greatly impacted and touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her straight-forwardness, her smile, her laughter and her compassion will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held Friday August 30th from 1-3 PM and again from 5-8 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, 41-45 W. 20th St. in Bayonne. A funeral service will be offered at the church at 9 AM on Saturday, August 31st with interment at Bayview Cemetery in Jersey City.
