Obituary

Louis S. Panaccione – of Bayonne passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by loving family on Saturday April 2nd 2016, he was 91 years young. Born in Jersey City, Louis served his country proudly in The US Army Air Corps. During WWII and was a decorated soldier receiving the American Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal & Asian Pacific Service Medal. Louis was also an active member of The American Legion Post 471 in Iselin, NJ and VFW Post 3149 in Carlstadt, NJ and received The Hudson County Distinguished Service Medal. He was the devoted husband to Annie (nee: Cobb), a beautiful southern belle from North Carolina he met on the street while on leave from the service. They were happily married for just shy of 70 years. Louis was also the beloved father to Alesandra "Sandy" Farrell and her late husband Ronald, Mary Bernhardt and husband Eugene, Pamela Noto and husband Joseph and to Barbara Perez and husband Julio. He was also loving grandfather to Coleen Keefe and husband Robert, Timothy Farrell and wife Allyson, Kimberly Arnold and husband Barrie, Christopher Bernhardt and wife Abby, Jennie, Matthew & Stephanie Noto, Michael, Steven & Nicholas Yeo and to Rebecca and Samantha Louw, as well as being cherished great-grandfather to Gabrielle, Andrew & Caitlyn Farrell; Patrick & Megan Keefe; Claire & Benjamin Gootman; Hailey, Avarie & Mackenzie Arnold; Logan & Peyton Bernhardt and Michael Anthony Yeo. Louis was pre-deceased by his siblings Adello Panaccione and Jennie Dundas and husband Edwin and brother in law Stanley Poplawski. Surviving Louis are his sister Lucille Poplawski and a host of other loving family members and dear friends. A visitation will be held for Louis on Thursday April 7th from 2-4 PM and again from 7-9 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 JFK Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday April 8th beginning at 11 AM at St. Andrew's Church, 145 Broadway (at 4th St.) in Bayonne with all welcome to gather at the funeral home starting at 10 AM. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Louis' memory to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Hospice Comfort Care of NJ with envelopes to be provided at the funeral home or with a link that can be found at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com.
