Ludovico "Ludo" Nolfo – of Bayonne passed away peacefully at his residence with loved ones by his side on Monday September 9 th 2019, he was 80 years old. Born in Palermo Sicily, Ludo was the son of Damiano and Eleonora Nolfo, when he immigrated at age 16 from Palermo, Italy to the United States. After serving two years in the United States Army in southern Germany, with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from New York University, he had an illustrious career in the banking industry, retiring in 2010 as Vice-President of Rabobank Nederland, New York Branch, International Trade Banking. Completely committed to community service, in addition to his decades of service to the Community Day Nursery, having served as past president, he is currently Chairman of the Bayonne Housing Authority Board of Commissioners and has served as Bayonne Board of Education Trustee, Commissioner of the Bayonne Board of Adjustment, Trustee of Our Lady of Assumption Roman, Catholic Church and President of the Board of the Bayonne Visiting Nurses Association. Ludo is Past President and District Governor of the Bayonne Chapter of UNICO National, with accolades as UNICO Man of the Year in 2003, and UNICO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. As Past President of the Bayonne Sicilian Citizens Club, he was honored as Man of the Year in 1992. Ludo has taught Italian classes for children and adulty. Ludo was the founding member and Grand Marshall of the former Bayonne Columbus Day Parade. He represented the Italian Community while serving on the Committee on Italian Migration sponsored by the Italian Consulate. Most recently he was instrumental in securing a grant from the Visiting Nurses Association for the Community Day Nursery. Ludo is the devoted husband of 47 years to Maria (nee: Pontillo) Nolfo and the loving brother to Filippa Nolfo, Lucia Riina and her late husband Biagio and cherished brother in-law to Lois Mignone and her late husband Mario. Ludo was also the beloved uncle to Pamela Salzman (Daniel), Cristina Armato (Philip), Elizabeth Jakic (Ante), Damiano Riina (Patricia) and the late James Riina; great-uncle to Emma, Anna & Andrew Salzman, Nicholas & Isabella Armato, Luke, Grace & Ella Jakic and to Matthew, Michael, Elizabeth & Caroline Riina, as well as being the adoring godfather to Andrea Paterno. Ludo was pre-deceased by his sister Giuseppa Nolfo and his in-laws Carmen & Mary Pontillo and surviving him is a host of other loving family members and dear friends both here and abroad. Visitation will be held on Friday September 13 th from 3-8PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33 rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday September 14 th at St. John Paul II Parish, 39 E. 22 nd St. in Bayonne with all welcome to gather at the funeral home starting at 9AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. In lieu of any flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ludo's memory to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Hospital with envelopes provided at the funeral home or with a link that can be found on Ludo's obituary page at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com.
