Gonzalez, Maria (nee: Rama Rama) - of Bayonne passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 17th, 2015. She was 72. Born in Mallou, Carnota, La Coruna Spain, Maria immigrated to the U.S. and moved to Bayonne. She worked steadily as a seamstress and factory worker before settling in and working at Bayonne Medical Center as a Nurse's Aide where she worked for 20 years. Maria was introduced to her husband, Manuel Antonio, while visiting her good friend on Story Court in Bayonne, and they remained married until Manuel's passing last year. Maria was the loving mother to Robert (wife Robin) and Anthony (wife Christie). She was also the beloved grandmother to Josh, Jake, A.J. and Giuliana. Maria loved nothing more that being with family. Surviving Maria are her sisters Ana Lamela, Dolores Quintela and Manola Casais and her brother Antonio Rama as well as a host of other loving family members and dear friends both here and in Spain. A private cremation was already held and a memorial mass for Maria will be celebrated on Saturday, January 2nd 2016, beginning promptly at 10:45 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, 82 W. 29th Street in Bayonne, with everyone asked to meet directly at the church in the morning. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society to honor her valiant battle.
