Mary Stachelski (nee: Smarz) - a lifelong resident of Bayonne passed away peacefully at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison, NJ, She would have turned 91 on May 11th. Mary worked as a secretary for The American Steamship Lines in NY, Baker Castor Oil and lastly at CasChem fro many years before retiring. In her younger years Mary enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City with her husband Teddy where she would "gamble away her daughters' inheritance". She also enjoyed shopping and sitting on the porch with Denise & Kenny in the summer so she could watch over the neighborhood. Mary was the devoted wife of the late Theodore Stachelski and the beloved mother to Susan Cacchione (Anthony), Diane Archibald (Robert) and Denise "her caretaker" Schultz (Kenneth). She was also the cherished grandmother to Anthony Cacchione (Stacey), Angela Lupo (Jay), James Archibald, Samantha Fox (Thomas) and Paul Del Priore (fiancé Vanessa) and loving great grandmother to Anthony & Adrianna Cacchione, Alyssa & Frankie Lupo and Theodore "Teddy" Fox. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents John Smarz Sr. of Ropica Gorne, Poland & Susan Dzubak of Vranov Dhle, Slovakia; her brothers John Smarz Jr. and Richard Smarz (Rita) and surviving Mary are her sister-in-law Lucy Smarz of Plainfield Township PA., Jolana Petricova & family and Dusan Stredny & family of Vranov, Slovakia, her many family in Poland and many nieces, nephews, cousins, helpful neighbors and close friends. There will be a PRIVATE visitation from 10-11Am on Tuesday March 30th at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass, where all are welcome, will follow at St. John's Byzantine Church, 15 East 26th Street in Bayonne at 11AM with interment immediately afterwards at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of any flowers the family requests donations be made in Mary's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital with a link that can be found to the left of this obituary page here at www.MigliaccioFuneralHome.com .
