Obituary

MAITA, Patrick J - a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Saturday June 27th 2015, he was 94 years old. Patrick worked for 20 years as a welder and manager at The Kellogg Propane Company upon returning home from the service; that was followed by several years at The Concrete Plank Company in North Arlington, before he retired. Patrick was wounded in World War II during his tour with the United States Army Infantry. He was discharged as a decorated soldier with commendations that include a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and The Distinguished Service Medal, among others. Patrick was a member of The Our Lady of the Assumption Church and The Catholic War Veteran's Post 1612 and he was an avid sportsman and wrestling fan who enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Patrick was the devoted husband of the late Alice (nee: Greene) Maita and the loving father to Bertha Marie Gaffney and husband James, Linda Esposito and husband John and Patricia Savo and husband Michael. He was the beloved Grandfather to five Granddaughters: Alicia Wodzinski and husband Chris, Eva Casazza and husband Steve, Jacqueline Young and husband Brian, Jessica Lynn Savo and Alison Savo, as well as being the cherished Great-grandfather "Poppie" to nine Great-grandchildren: Shawn Gaffney, Rebecca Wodzinski, Elizabeth Casazza, Emily Wodzinski, Joseph Casazza, Corinne Young, Jack Young, Madeline Casazza and Analysa Savo. Patrick was pre-deceased by his dear brothers, Carmen and Salvatore Maita and surviving him are his many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday July 1st from 4-8 pm at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 2nd commencing at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 91 W. 23rd St. in Bayonne with family and friends welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 8:30 am. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
