Richard J. Sorrentino, born November 3, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on March 6, 2026. He spent nearly his entire life in Bayonne before moving to Brandywine in Toms River, in March 2025.
Richard worked for many years as a bartender and waiter in NYC and Bayonne, where he was known for his easy smile, quick wit,and the warmth he brought to every conversation. Outside of his work, he found his greatest joy in music. He loved singing and playing the piano for friends and family, filling countless gatherings with melodies that reflected his kind and generous spirit.
He was predeceased by his mother Anna; his father, Cuneo Sr.; and his brother Cuneo Jr. Richie is survived by his brother, Gerald; and by his nieces Anne (Steve), Barbara (Tom), and his nephews Gerald (Astrid), Michael (Jenny), and Jeffrey (Katie). He also leaves behind many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, his close friend Laura Cenimo, and his friends and staff at Brandywine.
Richie will be remembered for his gentle heart, his love of music, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Visitation (with Cremains present) for Richie will be held on Friday March 13th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd, Bayonne. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10:30am at St. John Paul II Church (Mt. Carmel), 39 East 22nd St., Bayonne. Family and friends wishing to attend the Mass are asked to meet directly at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 10:15am. Following the mass we will proceed to Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington for Richie's burial of Cremains.
