Roque T. Somoza – of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Sunday January 8th 2017, he was 61. Born in Manila Philippines, Roque served in the Philippine Navy and then worked for The South African Embassy in New York City for over 30 years, earning an award of recognition in the process. Roque was the devoted husband to Edna (nee: Flores) Somoza and beloved father to Maria Elena Somoza and her husband Pedro Davila, Maria Rita Somoza and her husband Victor Melecio and to John R. Somoza. Roque was also the loving grandfather to Chloe Melecio and to Jason & Mason Davila, as well as being the cherished brother to Anthony Somoza and his wife Haydee, Henedina Somoza and to Shine Cheng. Surviving Roque are nieces Kelly Somoza & Sheila Mundo and the entire Torres family. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Tuesday January 10th at St. Henry's Church, 89 W. 29th St. in Bayonne. All mourners are asked to meet directly at the church in the morning. Visitation will be held later on Tuesday January 10th from 5-9 PM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne.  A private cremation will follow.
