Obituary

Rose (Cicalo) Baccarella, age 99, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 7th at Willow Springs in Brick, New Jersey. She was the loving wife of Carmen "Dick"

Baccarella (deceased, 1998) and most cherished mother to her children Philip and Christine, Richard and MaryBeth, Ellen Marie and John and Theresa.  Her sister, Rita Smith of Bayonne, will miss her terribly as they spoke most every day on the phone at 8:15 am. Rose was also predeceased by her brother John Cicalo

Rose was born on May 4, 1922 at home in Bayonne and was one of a multiple birth. As a testament to her strength and fortitude…Rose was the only surviving triplet. These characteristics would contribute to her greatness as a dedicated wife and mother. She met and married her husband Carmen in 1948. She cherished her time with her family hosting holidays at home and neighborhood gatherings with many friends in the Baccarella's "well-known" basement kitchen. She was "the hostess with the mostest!"

For many years Rose was a committed member of Our Lady of the Assumption Golden Agers and the Saint Anne's Society, and always looked forward to volunteering at the annual carnival where she enjoyed making zeppoles for the crowd. Being a dedicated wife and mother, Rose did not enter the work force until a data processing job at Maidenform of Bayonne came calling at the age of fifty. She gave the company twenty years before retiring at seventy and remained an active member of its Retiree Club for several years.

Rose may be best remembered for her longtime service at Midtown Community School as one of the first to join the "Senior Volunteer Program" that placed aides with classroom teachers. She loved working with her students and shared many of their success stories with her family.

To her delight, Rose's family gave her nine beautiful grandchildren (Lauren, Jaime, Lisa, Kristen, PJ, Rick, Karen, Jaclyn, and Ryan) who in turn gave her seventeen great-grandchildren.  Grandma now became known a "G.G." for Great-Grandma….and a GREAT Grandma she was!

Her life was a living testament to Ephesians 4:32: "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
