Obituary

Santa Mangano, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on May 15, 1944, in Marineo, Sicily, Italy, Santa's life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion, characteristics that endeared her to all who knew her.

Known for her sweet and caring nature, Santa was deeply loved by family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, embodying a spirit that was both compassionate and uplifting.

Santa’s family remained the heart and soul of her existence. She was profoundly proud of her three beautiful grandchildren—Charles III, Michael, and Isabella—who brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her loving children, son Paul and daughter Francesca Cangialosi, alongside her devoted son-in-law Charles, survive her and carry forward her legacy of family unity and affection. She also leaves behind her sister Maddelena Alessi and sister-in-law Luigina Calderone, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will fondly remember her unwavering support and presence.

Her beloved husband, Gaspar, whom she held dear all her life, passed away in December. Santa was also preceded in death by her mother, Rosa (Benanti), father Salvatore, brothers Onofrio, Ciro, and Vincenzo, and brother-in-law Gaetano Alessi.

A visitation to honor Santa’s memory will be held on May 19, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Migliaccio Funeral Home, located at 851 Kennedy Blvd, Bayonne, NJ 07002. This will be followed by a Mass at St. Henry’s Church, 645 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002, beginning at 10:45 a.m. Finally, a burial service will take place at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07306, starting at 12:00 p.m.

Santa's life was marked by unconditional love and profound grace. She will be forever remembered with great respect and affection by all who were fortunate to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
