Obituary

Stevens John Pritchard, 71, of Bayonne, NJ, passed away on April 13th, 2023 after a battle with

cancer.

Steve was born to the late John Pritchard and the late Georgette Pritchard (nee: Stevens) in

Ontario, Canada on September 1st, 1951. At the age of five, he and his family immigrated to

the US, eventually settling in Bayonne, NJ where he graduated from Bayonne High School.

During his teenage years, Steve spent his time playing baseball and drag racing his 1965

Pontiac GTO. He then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1975. As a

member of both the Airborne and the Rangers, Steve reached the rank of Sergeant, and was an

expert in both Rifle and Grenade.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, he lived in Texas for several years before

returning to New Jersey where he received his bachelor's degree from Kean University in

accounting. Steve helped his mother, Georgette, raise his niece, Shauna, daughter of his late

sister, Deborah.

While working in the automotive sales industry, he met his wife, Shelly, with whom he had his

only child, Michael. Steve enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as skiing, riding amusement

park thrill rides, and going to the beach. Although Steve and Shelly separated after twenty-two

years of marriage, they remained friends, often spending time together with their beloved son,

Michael. With the innate ability to sell ice in a snowstorm, Steve worked successfully in

automotive finance for twenty-five years. Often seen with a cup of coffee in his hand, he was an

avid reader and a huge history buff. He shared a love of muscle cars with his son, Michael.

Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah. Steve is survived by his son, Michael, his

former wife, Shelly, his niece Shauna, and her children Monique, Aaron, Sophia and Tommy

who were like grandchildren to him.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 from 2 to 3 pm at

Migliaccio Funeral Home in Bayonne, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations

be made in Steve's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
