Vincent Del Priore , 87, passed away peacefully at his home on May 30 , 2020, after a courageous battle with lung disease. He never lost his hope, optimism or sense of humor. Born in 1932, Vincent was a lifelong resident of Bayonne, NJ. He was a graduate of Bayonne High School and attended the Newark College of Engineering. Throughout his life, he worked hard to support his family, often taking on two and three jobs at a time. He worked at the Federal Carton Corporation and holds a book carton design patent. He was also a licensed real estate broker and tax preparer .
Outside of work, Vinny loved spending time with his family at his shore home in Point Pleasant, NJ. He was a n avid Giants fan, a lifelong boater, a skilled navigator, and knew how to tie a knot for every occasion. One of his greatest joys was taking day trips on his boat with his wife Adeline. He was a longtime member of the Power Squadron and also taught boating safety classes . Vinny also possessed a sharp mind and a sharp wit. He loved jazz music, regularly created short comics for his family , and completed the Daily News crossword puzzle every day.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Adeline (2011), he was a loving father to his devoted daughter Maria (Carl ) Biscaldi and his son Vincent. He was k now n as Poppy to his cherished grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew, who h e was so very proud of and the light of his life.
Uncle Vinny also had a special place in his heart for his selfless niece Rosanne Pona and his nephew Jo seph Pona . He cherished his relationship with Joe, who spent the last several summers sailing the high seas with Vinny when he could no longer captain his own ship. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for the family due to restrictions caused by COVID-19.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Vincent's name may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation .
