Obituary

Vito Luceno Jr. - of Bayonne, died in the Battle of Myitkyina in 1944 in Burma while serving his country proudly as a Private First Class during WWII. Vito served in the 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional) better known as Merrill's Marauders. Vito was declared missing in action until a recent breakthrough in DNA testing was able to finally identify his remains and bring him home. Vito was born on December 8, 1921, in San Vito, Italy and immigrated to the United States on June 30th, 1938, and resided in Bayonne, NJ. Vito was the beloved son of the late Vito Luceno Sr. and his wife Rosa (nee: Ciraco) Luceno and the cherished brother to the late Maria DeLuca (nee: Luceno) and her husband Vincent James. Left to survive Vito are his nieces Mary Ann Westfall and her late husband James and Rose Bujnowski and her husband James. There will be a memorial gathering for Vito on Saturday June 6th from 9-11AM at Migliaccio Funeral Home, 851 Kennedy Blvd. (at 33rd St.) in Bayonne. A funeral mass will follow at St. Mary's Church, 326 Avenue C in Bayonne at 11AM. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ. The family would like to thank the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the United States Army for all their hard work and diligence in bringing our soldiers home.
